Jefferson County authorities shut down westbound C-470 near the West Ken Caryl Avenue exit Tuesday morning following a serious single-vehicle crash. The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m. according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Karlyn Tilley. The crash involved one vehicle, prompting immediate road closure and emergency response.
No fatalities have been reported, but one occupant was transported to a hospital with injuries of unknown severity, the sheriff’s office confirmed. Emergency crews and law enforcement remain on scene managing the crash site and assisting affected motorists.
Traffic is currently being rerouted off C-470 at a nearby exit. Authorities have established a detour allowing vehicles to re-enter the highway beyond the crash scene via the onramp, aiming to keep delays as brief as possible.
This closure on the busy westbound corridor comes during morning rush hours, significantly impacting commuters traveling through Jefferson County. Drivers are urged to plan alternate routes and exercise caution if traveling in the area.
Jefferson County deputies continue investigation into the crash cause. No further updates on the injured party’s condition or potential citations have been released.
Motorists should expect delays and check real-time traffic feeds and alerts before heading toward westbound C-470.
“Our priority is ensuring everyone’s safety while restoring traffic flow as quickly as possible,” said Karlyn Tilley of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The closure remains in effect as officials work quickly to clear debris and conduct their investigation. The Colorado Daily will provide prompt updates as more information becomes available.
