STAR VALLEY — The Rock Springs soccer teams wrapped up their regular season Saturday in a split outcome that sets the stage for a high-stakes regional tournament next week. The Lady Tigers powered to a commanding 4-1 victory on the road at Star Valley, while the Tigers boys fell 2-1 in a tightly contested match.
The Lady Tigers’ win was fueled by a remarkable hat trick from Tahlia Knudsen, who dominated the pitch with precision and aggressive scoring. Knudsen’s performance underscore Rock Springs’ rise in the standings, vaulting the Lady Tigers to the No. 6 seed in the competitive 4A West conference.
“Tahlia really took control of the game today,” said one coach. “Her three goals showed why she’s a player to watch heading into the postseason.”
While the girls celebrated, the boys faced a tougher challenge. Mark Hamilton gave Rock Springs a quick boost by scoring in the fifth minute, putting the Tigers ahead early. However, Star Valley rallied before halftime to tie at 1-1 and then scored the decisive goal in the second half to secure a 2-1 victory.
Despite the loss, Rock Springs’ boys still improved their standing thanks to a key rivalry win over Green River just two days earlier. That victory propelled them to a secure No. 5 seed entering the postseason tournament.
Both teams now turn full attention toward next week’s regional playoffs, where seeding will play a critical role in their path to advancing. The Tigers and Lady Tigers will aim to leverage their momentum on the road as they compete for a chance to represent the region at state level competition.
This weekend’s matches marked the end of conference play, closing a highly competitive chapter for the Rock Springs soccer programs. Fans and players alike are gearing up for the intensity of the postseason, with expectations high after a solid finish.
