Freshman Logyn Greer Sparks CU Buffs’ 77-45 Victory Over PSU

UPDATE: Freshman star Logyn Greer led the CU Buffs to a decisive 77-45 victory against Portland State at the CU Events Center in Boulder, Colorado, on November 16, 2025. Greer scored a season-high 19 points, showcasing her burgeoning talent and solidifying her role on the team.

The Buffs’ strong defense was key to their success, allowing them to dominate the second half and turn a 14-point halftime lead into a commanding 23-point advantage by the end of the third quarter. With this win, the Buffs improve to 2-1 for the season.

Greer, who has been making waves since joining the team, expressed her evolving confidence. “At the start, I was like a deer in headlights,” she said. “But now I’m really starting to get into it and just understand and play with pace.”

Head Coach JR Payne praised Greer’s performance, stating, “Anyone can see Logyn; she’s the type of player who walks into the gym and people say, ‘Who’s that?’ The sky’s the limit for her.”

Alongside Greer, Zyanna Walker contributed significantly with 8 points, 6 assists, and 5 steals, demonstrating the team’s depth and defensive prowess. The Buffs amassed a staggering 18 steals, their highest total since November 28, 2023, against Boston.

Despite Greer’s standout performance, it was a collective effort that led to victory. Four players—Desiree Wooten, Anna Gooden, Zyanna Walker, and Claire O’Connor—each added 8 points to the scoreboard, while Jade Crook chipped in with 7 points.

The Buffs showcased their defensive capabilities by limiting Portland State to a shooting percentage of just .364 and forcing 26 turnovers. Walker highlighted the team’s strategy, saying, “Just turn the defense into offense. Just get something going in transition.”

Next, the Buffs will look to build on this momentum as they host Boise State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. (ESPN+). Coach Payne is eager for the team to continue improving, stating, “We had people playing totally out of position… Lots of good things to celebrate from the game.”

Notably, the game also featured a tribute to former Buffs star Jaylyn Sherrod, who was honored with a spot on the Wall of Honor for her achievements, including being the first former Buff to win a WNBA championship in 2024.

The Buffs’ impressive showing today serves as a promising signal for the season ahead, with Greer emerging as a cornerstone of the team’s future success.
