Urgent: Roseau Lake Road Closed for Deer Season, DNR Confirms

UPDATE: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has just announced that the road through the Roseau Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will remain closed during the entire 2025 firearms deer season, which opens on Saturday, November 8. This urgent closure affects hunters in Deer Permit Area (DPA) 267, particularly in Roseau County, who are advised to plan accordingly.

The closure impacts 360th Avenue, also known as County Road 123, a vital route for accessing hunting areas. The affected sections include parts of Unorganized Township, specifically sections 17, 20, and 29, beginning just a quarter-mile north of the Stoie Bridge that crosses the Roseau River.

This closure is essential due to ongoing construction as part of the Roseau Lake Rehabilitation Project. This significant initiative, a collaboration between the DNR and the Roseau River Watershed District, aims to restore the 3,000-acre Roseau Lake within the WMA. The project is designed to mitigate flood damage to private lands and prevent the overtopping of 360th Avenue during high water events.

Hunters and outdoor enthusiasts are urged to stay updated on the situation. For more details, visit the DNR’s Roseau Lake WMA webpage or call the Roseau River WMA office at (218) 452-7610.

As the opening day for deer season approaches, this closure could significantly impact hunting plans for many in the community. It is crucial for all hunters in the area to be aware of alternative routes and ensure their safety while navigating the WMA during this period.

Stay tuned for further updates as the DNR monitors the situation.
