Durango Girls Lacrosse Dominates Santa Fe Prep 13-2 on Senior Night

Durango Girls Lacrosse Bounces Back with Crushing 13-2 Win on Senior Night

Durango High School girls lacrosse delivered an emphatic response to last week’s toughest defeat, dominating Santa Fe Prep 13-2 in a thrilling senior night victory Friday.

The Demons wasted no time asserting control, racing to a seven-goal halftime lead and never letting up throughout the game in Durango. The team’s aggressive defense disrupted every Santa Fe offensive attempt, stripping the ball away repeatedly and converting turnovers into fast break opportunities.

Head coach Eric Elliot praised his squad’s resilience and senior leadership after the game. “I think I’m undefeated on senior nights and so is the team, so that’s pretty good,” said Elliot. The win boosted Durango’s overall record to 8-3, while Santa Fe Prep remains without a victory at 0-2.

Key Players Fuel Durango’s Dominance

Junior Indie Eaton led the offensive charge with four goals and two assists, while freshman Janelle Dingler contributed a balanced three goals and three assists. Senior Taylor Babcock also left her mark with three goals and an assist during the high-energy contest.

Durango’s transition game was particularly devastating, sparked by sophomore defensive standout Keelyn Reynolds, who forced a school-record 10 turnovers with her precise stick checks and smart anticipation. “She’s got that hockey mentality, always one step ahead,” Elliot noted.

Junior goalie Jody Holden anchored the defensive end, making six crucial saves that prevented Santa Fe from gaining any offensive rhythm.

Game Highlights and Senior Night Ceremony

The Demons exploded early with three goals in the opening four minutes, quickly shifting momentum and rattling Santa Fe’s offense. Durango’s relentless pressure led to an 8-1 lead at the half, with Eaton’s skillful playmaking and Babcock’s precision finishing standing out.

In the second half, Durango maintained control, outshooting Santa Fe and frustrating their attempts to sustain possession. The Demons extended their lead to 11-2 entering the final quarter, where seniors Babcock and Scarlett Ramsey capped the scoring with a pair of late goals.

The postgame senior night ceremony celebrated Babcock, Laurel Dondlinger, and Ramsey for their leadership and contributions. “Their leadership is amazing, especially with so many new players on the team this season,” Elliot reflected. “They’ve helped build a culture that’s been crucial for our success.”

What’s Next for Durango

Durango will continue their home stand with a game against Telluride on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Demons appear poised to build momentum as they push deeper into the season.

For now, Durango’s emphatic senior night triumph signals a team that learns fast, rebounds hard, and plays with heart—a perfect recipe for success in the competitive Colorado high school lacrosse landscape.
