Disney has officially announced the casting for its upcoming live-action adaptation of the beloved animated film, Tangled. The reimagined movie will feature Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider. This announcement was made on Wednesday, generating excitement among fans of the original 2010 animated classic.
The film will be directed by Michael Gracey, known for his work on The Greatest Showman, with a screenplay penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Croft, an Australian actress, gained recognition for her role as Rachel Roth, also known as Raven, in the DC series Titans and in Netflix’s True Spirit. Manheim, on the other hand, has previously starred in Disney’s Zombies franchise and portrayed Wally Clark in Paramount’s teen drama, School Spirits.
As of now, Disney has not announced who will take on the role of Mother Gothel, a key character in the story. The original animated version, which earned over $590 million globally, featured the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi.
This live-action adaptation joins a series of Disney’s successful reimaginings of classic princess tales, including The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella. Furthermore, a live-action version of Moana is scheduled for release this summer, as the studio continues to explore new cinematic interpretations of its timeless stories.
While a release date for Tangled has yet to be announced, the casting decisions have sparked renewed interest in the film. Fans and newcomers alike are eager to see how this new rendition will honor the beloved characters and the enchanting story that captivated audiences over a decade ago.
With Disney’s commitment to high-quality productions and engaging storytelling, this live-action Tangled promises to deliver a fresh experience while paying homage to the original film. As the project develops, further insights into the cast and production details are anticipated, keeping the audience engaged in the journey from animation to live-action.
