Global hospitality group Minor Hotels has announced plans for a new Anantara waterfront resort in Ushuaia, Argentina. Scheduled to open in early 2028, the Anantara Ushuaia Patagonia resort will be built within the Costa Susana master plan area, located near the Tierra del Fuego National Park.
The resort will feature 60 guest rooms and suites, along with a wellness facility and spa situated at sea level. Additional amenities will include dedicated dining venues and meeting spaces. This development is part of a hotel management agreement with Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana, an Argentinean developer consisting of two partners.
Costa Susana is notable as Argentina’s first carbon-neutral real estate development. The project has also been nominated for the World Architecture Festival’s Landscape and Environment category, marking a significant achievement as the first Argentinean project to receive this nomination.
The site is conveniently located just a short drive from Ushuaia International Airport, which provides direct flights to Buenos Aires and other domestic destinations. Future guests at the resort will have access to local attractions, including ski resorts and the End of the World Train. Additionally, visitors can embark on cruises to Antarctica and other South American ports, as well as explore the expansive 70,000 hectares of the Tierra del Fuego National Park.
González del Solar, a spokesperson for Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Minor Hotels. He stated, “Partnering with Minor Hotels to introduce Anantara to our country is incredibly exciting. We’re equally proud to work with a brand that shares our values in protecting the environment and uplifting local communities. Together, we are creating a benchmark green hotel for the region.”
Minor Hotels emphasizes that this new property will help maintain local ties while adhering to the environmental standards set by the wider Costa Susana project. Gonzalo Aguilar, CEO of Minor Hotels Europe and Americas, highlighted the strategic importance of the new resort: “Anantara Ushuaia is a major step in our growth strategy for the Americas and a fulfilment of a long-held ambition. With our partners’ deep local expertise and our shared vision, we are confident the property will become a benchmark for immersive, sustainable hospitality at the edge of the world.”
In a related development, Minor Hotels recently announced plans to open a Tivoli Hotels & Resorts property in Lecce, Italy, following a significant renovation. This growth reflects Minor Hotels’ commitment to expanding its footprint in the global hospitality market while prioritizing sustainable practices.
