UPDATE: James D. Styer, an esteemed figure in the Exeter Township community, has passed away at the age of 80. His death occurred on January 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy as a dedicated family man and a respected professional in the electrical sales industry.
Styer, who was the husband of the late Cynthia G. Styer, is remembered for his impactful career at Progress Electric Supply and Colonial Electric Supply. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a graduate of Exeter High School, class of 1963, and attended Penn State University.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on January 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service beginning at 11:00 AM. The venue for the gathering will be Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.
Styer is survived by his children, Andrew J. Styer, fiancé of Kimberly Moyer, of Oley, and Paula Styer, spouse of Kelly Eghujovbo, of Detroit. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Evan Styer, Luke Styer, Nathan Styer, Aiden Tobias, and Henry Moyer-Daniels.

Styer is also survived by his brothers, John Styer and Joel Styer, his brothers-in-law, Paul “Kenny” Kline and Leonard Readinger, and a cherished friend, Roxann Frain. His beloved cat, B.C., will also miss his companionship.
