Fairview Football Crushes Rocky Mountain 63-21, Eyes Playoffs

UPDATE: Fairview football has delivered a stunning performance, dominating Rocky Mountain with a decisive 63-21 victory on October 31, 2025, at Recht Field in Boulder. This win marks a significant step forward as the Knights prepare for the playoffs, boasting an impressive 9-1 record this season.

The Knights, ranked seventh in Class 5A, came out with a vengeance after last year’s semifinal heartbreak against Legend. In just 13 seconds into the game, senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers electrified the crowd with a 70-yard touchdown run, setting the tone for the night.

Ruttgers finished the game with an astounding four touchdowns, showcasing the team’s depth and resilience despite the loss of key player Jordan Rechel from last season. Junior quarterback Ki Ellison, who leads the team with unwavering confidence, stated, “We’re just as good as last year… we’ve got a ton of weapons all over the ball that are hungry.”

The Knights have shown exceptional determination this season, bouncing back from their only loss to No. 4 Arvada West in Week 2. Since then, they have not allowed opponents to come close, demonstrating their dominance and readiness for the upcoming playoff challenges.

As the playoff bracket is set to be released by CHSAA on Sunday, Fairview’s head coach Tom McCartney emphasized the team’s focus on health and performance. “We’re just kind of going week to week… we’ve got guys that can make plays and they’re doing it,” he noted, praising the contributions of players like Ruttgers and Max Vieth.

The Knights’ momentum is palpable, and as they prepare for the postseason, there’s a sense of urgency and excitement among players and fans alike. “It hurt so bad last year… we knew it should have been ours,” reflected Ellison, echoing the sentiment of a team eager to reclaim their championship dreams.

With their playoff journey about to begin, Fairview football has sent a clear message: they are a force to be reckoned with, and they are ready to make their mark in the postseason.
