UPDATE: The Boulder Opera Company has just launched its highly anticipated season, captivating audiences with a unique blend of passion, humor, and timeless music. Since its founding in 2012, this nonprofit has transformed the local opera scene, making the art form accessible to diverse communities across Colorado.
The season kicked off with a spectacular outdoor event, Opera in the Park, at the Boulder Bandshell, featuring highlights from opera’s most iconic works. Hundreds gathered under the sky to celebrate this vibrant art form, reinforcing Boulder Opera’s commitment to community connection.
In November, families are invited to enjoy Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, promising an evening filled with warmth and laughter. Looking ahead, April will see the presentation of Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier, a poignant opera exploring themes of love and transformation.
Boulder Opera’s impact reaches far beyond the stage. The organization has provided free concerts to hundreds of residents, particularly benefiting underserved Latino and Hispanic communities. Thousands of students from Title I schools have also been introduced to opera through engaging educational programs, fostering a new generation of opera enthusiasts.
As a nonprofit primarily funded by donations, Boulder Opera is currently aiming to raise $12,000 in unrestricted funds. These funds will support artist pay, expand bilingual programming, and enhance community access for the upcoming 2026 season. Their message is clear: “It only takes a little to make a big impact.”
