Joybees is making strides in the children’s footwear sector with a new line of innovative shoes designed to fill a noticeable gap in the market. The company’s latest offering includes the Kids Rodeo Splash Boot, which will be available on its website from mid-January 2024. Priced at $39.99, this boot features drainage details, a textured outsole, and Joybees’ proprietary HoneyFoam EVA for added comfort.
The Kids Rodeo Splash Boot has already earned recognition, winning two Global Footwear Awards last year—one for Kids Fashion and another in the Boots category. The design was spearheaded by Kathy Santos, alongside a talented team that includes Rosina Navon and CEO Ken Dayley. Dayley emphasized that the boot was inspired by Western pop culture and aims to provide a waterproof option that is both lightweight and non-restrictive, enabling children to wear them comfortably at the playground or creek.
Distinct Features Set Joybees Apart
Joybees distinguishes itself from competitors through two key features. According to Dayley, many similar products utilize a “hard” footbed, whereas Joybees employs the HoneyFoam bottom across its entire range. This signature footbed is designed to act like a pillow-top, with a honeycomb formation that enhances comfort. Additionally, the price points of Joybees products range from $29.99 to $52.99, making them more affordable compared to cheaper knockoffs priced as low as $9.99.
Looking forward to spring, Joybees plans to expand its women’s line by introducing a 2.5-inch wedge and two flat options. The men’s collection will also see additions, including a shoe with both a closed toe and closed heel, designed to complement its Trekking Expedition line.
Company Background and Leadership Transition
Founded by Kellen McCarvel, a former CEO of Joybees with a background at Crocs Inc., the company has seen some changes in leadership. While McCarvel’s father, John McCarvel, also previously served as CEO at Crocs, the younger McCarvel is no longer involved with Joybees. The company is currently navigating several lawsuits over trade secrets involving both Joybees and Crocs.
CEO Ken Dayley, who joined Joybees in December 2024, has a rich history in the industry with experience at New Balance and Finish Line. He declined to comment on the ongoing litigation but is focused on steering Joybees toward growth and innovation in the competitive footwear market.
As Joybees continues to expand its offerings and refine its product lines, the company is poised to make a significant impact in the children’s footwear sector, addressing both functionality and style.
