Amazon has announced plans to hire approximately 250,000 workers across the United States for full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles as the holiday season approaches. Among these, nearly 30,000 positions will be available in California, with over 1,000 jobs specifically designated for the Central Valley region.
The FAT 1 Amazon facility located in Fresno aims to fill 800 seasonal roles, while the FAT 2 facility in Visalia will offer just over 450 seasonal positions. These roles are designed to provide competitive pay and flexible schedules, with many opportunities potentially leading to full-time employment. Benefits for full-time employees include health care starting on day one, pre-paid tuition, a 401(k) savings match, and paid parental leave.
According to Amazon’s recent 2025 Economic Impact Report, the company has invested more than $1.5 trillion in the United States, with $218 billion allocated specifically to California. This investment has significantly contributed to local economic growth, creating jobs and enhancing the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) by an estimated $221 billion.
In California alone, Amazon employs more than 154,009 full-time and part-time workers. This employment not only supports direct hires but also contributes to over 147,000 indirect jobs statewide. Furthermore, Amazon’s strategic investments in data centers have resulted in the creation of thousands of skilled jobs and various career pathways across the nation. From 2011 to 2024, Amazon invested over $5 billion in California, supporting around 1,800 jobs in the state.
“Our seasonal roles provide a fantastic opportunity for people seeking additional income during the holidays while gaining valuable experience at Amazon,” stated David Koneck, general manager of Amazon’s SBD6 Fulfillment Center in Ontario, California. This statement reflects the company’s commitment to not only meet its staffing needs during peak seasons but also to support local communities and economies.
As Amazon continues to expand its workforce, the focus remains on providing valuable opportunities for both job seekers and the local economy, particularly during the crucial holiday shopping period. With a range of roles available, the company aims to attract individuals looking to enhance their employment prospects while contributing to a major player in the retail and logistics sectors.
