Urgent: Woman Shot in Dispute, Police Rush Her to Hospital

UPDATE: A 28-year-old woman was shot during a violent dispute between neighboring families in Philadelphia’s West Oak Lane on Wednesday evening. The shocking incident occurred around 5 p.m. along Ogontz Avenue, near 69th Avenue, as tensions escalated into gunfire.

Police responded to the scene amid pouring rain, where they discovered the victim’s family was attempting to take her to the hospital in a private vehicle. Officers intervened, instructing them to place her in a patrol car for a rapid transport to Einstein Medical Center. The urgency of the situation was evident, as her life depended on the swift response of the police.

The victim was shot in the side of her chest and initially reported to be in critical condition, but doctors successfully stabilized her condition, according to police. Chief Inspector Scott Small stated, “We know five shots were fired from two separate caliber semi-automatic weapons.” He also confirmed that investigators discovered private surveillance cameras in the area, which will aid in the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have detained two men in connection with the incident. One of the men was found with a gun at the scene and is cooperating with police; however, it remains unclear if he was involved in the shooting. The second man was apprehended on an unrelated felony warrant and is also being questioned regarding the shooting.
