IDF Kills Palestinian Gunman, Manhunt Captures 17 Terrorists

URGENT UPDATE: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have confirmed the killing of a Palestinian gunman who opened fire on Israeli troops in a designated humanitarian zone in Gaza earlier today. This incident marks a significant violation of the ceasefire agreement, as tensions escalate following the IDF’s successful 24-hour manhunt that resulted in the capture or death of 17 terrorists in Rafah.

The IDF reported that the gunman fired towards Israeli positions before being neutralized by return fire. Thankfully, no Israeli casualties were reported during the altercation. Authorities have emphasized that this attack is part of a disturbing trend, with numerous attempts by Hamas operatives to breach Israeli lines since the ceasefire began on October 10.

In response to the attack, the IDF launched retaliatory strikes targeting Hamas positions within Gaza. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, these strikes led to the deaths of five senior terrorists. An official statement declared, “Israel has fully honoured the ceasefire; Hamas has not,” accusing the militant group of exploiting the ceasefire to launch attacks while endangering Palestinian civilians.

Jerusalem has urged international mediators to enforce compliance with the commitments outlined in President Donald Trump’s 20-point ceasefire plan, which includes the return of hostages and full demilitarization of Gaza. Currently, Hamas is accused of withholding the bodies of three individuals killed in the October 7 attack: Israelis Dror Or and Sgt. Maj. Ran Gvili, as well as Thai agricultural worker Sudthisak Rinthalak.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, the IDF concluded a comprehensive manhunt targeting a group of terrorists attempting to escape from the tunnel networks in eastern Rafah. Of the 17 suspects, the IDF confirmed that 11 were killed and six were arrested, with the latter now in the custody of Shin Bet for further interrogation.

The situation remains fluid as the IDF continues to monitor potential threats. A U.S. official, as reported by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, reaffirmed Washington’s support for Israel’s right to respond swiftly to any ceasefire violations.

As tensions escalate, both local and international observers are urged to stay informed on the ongoing developments in Gaza. This is a rapidly evolving situation that demands attention.
