Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Returns with Star-Studded Parade!

URGENT UPDATE: The iconic Wintrust Magnificent Mile Lights Festival and Parade has officially returned to Michigan Avenue for its 34th year, delighting Chicagoans and visitors alike just in time for the holiday season. This vibrant event is set to shine brightly the weekend before Thanksgiving, featuring beloved characters like Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse from Walt Disney World Resort.

The excitement kicks off with a free concert by Chicago’s own Plain White T’s at 1 p.m. today, followed by the spectacular parade starting at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Attendees will witness a dazzling display of floats, giant helium balloons, and live performances, including a Chicago-themed float debut by DJ White Shadow, a GRAMMY-winning producer and local favorite.

Organizers anticipate a crowd of up to one million people, making it the largest evening parade in the United States and the third-largest in the country. The festival marks the official commencement of the holiday season, with the illumination of over one million lights on more than 200 trees along North Michigan Avenue.

This year’s parade will also feature the soulful sounds of Club Nouveau performing their classic hit “Lean on Me.” The festive atmosphere encourages attendees to don their most creative holiday sweaters in an attempt to break the record for the most worn at a parade.

Lights Festival Lane opens from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pioneer Court, 401 N. Michigan Ave. The parade route extends south on North Michigan Avenue from Oak Street to Wacker Drive, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the Chicago River.
