Dr. Jay Kim and Dr. Daria H. Lee have officially joined the dental clinic at the FHP Health Center, enhancing the clinic’s ability to provide comprehensive dental care. Their combined experience in military dentistry and leadership roles promises to positively impact the health center’s service to the community.
Dr. Kim’s Background and Achievements
Dr. Kim brings a wealth of experience from his previous role at the Apra Harbor Dental Clinic in Santa Rita, Guam. He played a key role in relocating and setting up a new clinic designed to boost dental productivity. His career includes positions at the Naval Base Guam Branch Dental Clinic and the Naval Branch Dental Clinic at Sewell’s Point in Norfolk, Virginia.
He completed his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at Boston University, graduating magna cum laude. His training spans various specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics, highlighting his commitment to providing comprehensive care. Dr. Kim is particularly skilled in CAD/CAM dentistry, which allows for quick turnaround on dental crowns. He also successfully integrated Genesis, a system for military electronic health records, into the dental department.
Licensed to practice in both Guam and Virginia, Dr. Kim has received BLS Certification from the American Red Cross. He has achieved remarkable operational readiness rates, with a deployment readiness of 97% for military personnel, and has been recognized for his high productivity among Navy dental lieutenants.

Dr. Lee’s Expertise and Contributions
Dr. Lee also brings significant experience from her time as a Dental Officer in the US Navy, serving at USNMRTC Guam and aboard the USS Osborne. Her expertise in restorative treatments, extractions, and advanced dental procedures has made a positive impact on numerous military personnel and their families.
In her role as interim department head, Dr. Lee managed personnel and equipment while developing Standard Operating Procedures for Infection Control. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry, where she also taught dental modules, demonstrating her dedication to education and patient care.
Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors from Michigan State University, enhancing her skills in understanding patient behavior and communication. Throughout her military service, she maintained a remarkable 99% dental readiness for naval sailors and led patient safety audits.
Her accolades include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2022, the Patient Care Safety Champion Award from US Naval Hospital Guam in 2021, and the Service Before Self Award in 2020. Dr. Lee is fluent in both Korean and English, and she holds active dental licenses in both Guam and Michigan.
