UPDATE: The No. 21 Colorado Buffaloes volleyball team faced a devastating defeat against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday night, losing in straight sets: 25-15, 25-16, 25-16. This marks only the third time this season the Buffs have been swept, signaling a significant setback just before their final match of the regular season.
The loss came during Colorado’s last road game, pushing their record to 22-7 overall and 12-5 in the Big 12. The Buffaloes struggled on the court, finishing with a hitting percentage of just .105, while Cincinnati soared with an impressive .404.
“This was a disappointing result,” said CU head coach Jesse Mahoney. “Cincinnati did everything right, and we couldn’t get going. We’ve been a really good defensive team this year, but we just couldn’t slow them down for whatever reason.”
The Buffaloes will look to rebound as they return home to face No. 25 BYU next Saturday, November 29, 2023, at 6 p.m. EST. The match will be available on ESPN+, providing fans with an opportunity to support the team as they seek to end the regular season on a high note.
In the match against Cincinnati, Buffs players struggled offensively, with Jordan and Splawska each contributing only 8 kills, while Burilovic added 6 kills. The Bearcats’ Nolan led with a staggering 19 kills, dominating the game.
As the team prepares for their upcoming matchup, fans are left anxious about the Buffs’ ability to regain their momentum and secure a strong finish to the season. With just one game remaining, all eyes will be on Colorado as they aim to bounce back and prove they are still contenders in the competitive landscape of college volleyball.
