Community Thanksgiving Service in Havertown Set for Nov. 23

UPDATE: A significant community event is on the horizon as the Haverford Township Ministerium announces a Community Thanksgiving Service scheduled for November 23, 2025, at 3 p.m. This heartfelt gathering will take place at St. James UCC, located at 135 Myrtle Ave., Havertown, and is themed “United in Gratitude.”

This interfaith and ecumenical service will bring together participants from various organizations, fostering unity and appreciation in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Notably, the offering collected during the service will support the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, providing essential educational scholarships for its community members.

Attendees will be inspired by a special message from Barbara Lee and Barry Lee, both representatives of the Lenape Nation. For those interested in taking part in the community choir, a rehearsal will be held just before the service at 2:15 p.m.

In addition to this major event, churches in the area are hosting various services throughout the holiday season. For example, Trainer Trinity United Methodist Church will hold its regular Sunday worship service on the same day at 10:15 a.m. led by Pastor Hilda Campbell.

Many local churches, including St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Havertown United Methodist Church, will also feature special services and events leading up to Christmas. These include Christmas cantatas, children’s parties, and contemplative services designed to enhance community spirit and provide support during the holiday season.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, residents are encouraged to engage in these meaningful events that connect families and friends, fostering a sense of gratitude and community.
