Anchorage Man, 65, Dies After Being Struck by Pickup Truck

UPDATE: A 65-year-old man from Anchorage has tragically died following a severe traffic incident. Carl Schmidt succumbed to his injuries on November 7, 2025, ten days after being struck by a pickup truck on October 28.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:20 PM near the intersection of Minnesota Drive and 32nd Avenue. According to police reports, Schmidt was hit by a Ford F150 while walking outside of a crosswalk, suffering what authorities described as life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he passed away a week later.

Schmidt was a longtime resident of Anchorage, having lived in the city for 45 years. Known for his love of cooking, fishing, and his two dogs, Rocky and Lucky, Schmidt’s death marks a somber moment for the community.
