According to the Oakland Police Department, the chaos unfolded near the intersection of 14th Avenue and East 31st Street. The Toyota Corolla, carrying five juveniles, collided with another vehicle, prompting the driver to abandon the scene and take off onto Interstate 580. The driver of the struck vehicle pursued the Corolla and alerted police with crucial details about the unfolding situation.
The suspect exited the freeway at 35th Avenue and sped southbound, where the Corolla was ultimately struck by a third vehicle in the 3300 block of 35th Avenue.
