UPDATE: A woman in West Hollywood, California, displayed remarkable courage when she confronted a stranger who jumped into her car at a gas station. The shocking incident, captured on surveillance video, highlights the urgent need for safety awareness among drivers.
The couple, Star and Mike Carter, were filling up their Alfa Romeo before attending a comedy show featuring Deon Cole on October 14, 2023. As they prepared to leave, a man suddenly leaped into the back seat of their vehicle, prompting an immediate and tense confrontation.
Star Carter sprang into action, forcefully pulling the intruder from the vehicle as her husband struggled with a stuck seatbelt. “I had to remove him from my vehicle,” Star recounted. “When I got him out of the car, I went into a motherly instinct and told him, ‘Don’t you ever do nothin’ stupid like this no more.'” The man, seemingly under the influence, stumbled away as Star stood her ground.
The couple had initially planned a fun evening with family but were caught off guard by the unexpected threat. Star had noticed the stranger lingering nearby before the incident, stating, “He asked the guy, like, ‘Hey man, are you good? Are you ok?’ He didn’t say anything.” The man appeared to move away but instead approached their vehicle when Mike returned.
Star expressed her concern for her two daughters who drive, emphasizing the importance of vigilance on the roads. “It’s an eye-opener for me… you just have to be aware,” she said. Mike praised his wife’s bravery, noting, “I looked over the back, and she did what she did. I said, ‘Ok, I know my wife is strong, but wow, she’s strong.'”
Fortunately, the Carters were unharmed. They decided to share the surveillance footage with Eyewitness News to raise awareness about safety. “I kind of called it, ‘Hollywood therapy,'” Star joked, highlighting the surreal nature of the encounter.
