The Christian Heritage Lions showcased their strength by defeating the Armuchee Indians 42-7 in their final regular season game on October 27, 2025. This decisive victory secured the Lions a strong finish to the season, concluding with a record of 7-3 overall and 6-1 within their region. Meanwhile, Armuchee ended their season winless at 0-9, struggling throughout the year due to injuries.
The game, held at the Lions’ Den on Halloween night, was characterized by a swift and commanding performance from Christian Heritage, which allowed for a running clock in the second half due to their substantial lead. The Lions’ defense made an immediate impact, with junior defensive end John Stanley recovering a fumble on Armuchee’s second possession.
With just under nine minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Lions executed their first scoring drive. Freshman quarterback Charlie Baxter connected with senior tight end Benji Michmerhuizen on a 21-yard pass for the opening touchdown, followed by a successful extra point from junior kicker Luis Salinas, putting the Lions ahead 7-0.
The Lions quickly extended their lead as Armuchee’s sophomore quarterback Riley Millican was intercepted by senior strong safety Sawyer Corn. Although the interception was negated by a pass interference penalty, the Lions’ defense pressed on. They sacked Millican, forcing a fourth down punt, and soon after, Henry Hill rushed for a 19-yard touchdown, increasing the score to 14-0.
Christian Heritage continued to dominate as Middleton recovered another fumble and scored on a 15-yard run, making it 21-0. Armuchee managed one defensive highlight when senior linebacker Cason Wade sacked Baxter, but the Lions quickly regained control.
In the second quarter, Baxter connected with Kyric Rockholt for a 15-yard touchdown. Despite a personal foul that nullified a potential 40-yard rushing touchdown by sophomore Harrison Murdock, Baxter ultimately ran the ball in himself for a 1-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 35-0.
The second half saw more of the same from the Lions. Backup quarterback Beau Moore scored on a 17-yard run, solidifying the lead at 42 points. Armuchee managed to score late in the game, with senior running back Devyn Davis crossing into the end zone, but it was too little, too late.
While the Lions celebrated their second consecutive victory over Armuchee, they also secured a second-place finish in the Region 7-A D1 standings, behind Gordon Lee, who finished the regular season undefeated.
In individual performances, Baxter completed 16 of 22 passes for 247 yards, positioning him fifth in the state for total passing yards with 2,406 this season. Moore added 35 rushing yards in his brief appearance, while Hill contributed 54 rushing yards.
After the game, Terry expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting, “I was just so happy I got to make a fumble recovery. Being a lineman, it’s hard to make something like that, so when you get the opportunity to do that, it’s always great.” Baxter also shared his optimism for the playoffs, stating, “We feel good going into the playoffs and I’m hoping to see who we play. But we’re excited.”
As Christian Heritage prepares for their eighth consecutive playoff appearance, they remain focused on building upon their momentum. Terry is confident in their potential, stating, “I feel like we’ve got a solid shot of making it pretty far into the playoffs.” The Lions’ playoff opponent and game date will be announced in the days ahead.
