URGENT UPDATE: The holiday season has officially kicked off in Buffalo, New York, as The New 96.1 has launched its all-Christmas music format! The station made the switch over the weekend, igniting festive cheer with a special morning show on Monday, featuring local talent and holiday favorites.
Morning host Dave Fields announced, “We’re the only station in Buffalo playing all Christmas music. We wanted to get a jump on the holiday season.” The early launch aims to resonate with listeners who crave Christmas songs especially right after Halloween. The station will continue to broadcast festive music 24/7 through Christmas Day and beyond.
The station’s kickoff celebration featured prominent guests, including Joshua Vacanti from The Voice, local artists, and even a surprise visit from Santa Claus. Fields emphasized the nostalgic value of Christmas music, sharing his personal favorite, “Little Drummer Boy,” which reminds him of cherished childhood memories dancing with his father.
In addition to spreading holiday joy through music, The New 96.1 is also spearheading a Cans for Christmas Food Drive in partnership with St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. This initiative runs now through December 14, urging the community to donate non-perishable food items. Key drop-off locations include Vidler’s in East Aurora and the law offices of William Mattar.
As the station embraces the spirit of giving and community support, listeners can also engage by submitting song requests through The New 96.1 app.
Tune in now and experience Buffalo’s festive spirit as it unfolds with every note! Spread the word and share your holiday favorites!
