URGENT UPDATE: The family of two sisters tragically killed in a horrific crash in Fresno County is speaking out, revealing the profound heartbreak they are enduring. The accident occurred on Tuesday night on Belmont Avenue, just west of Brawley Avenue, when 21-year-old Angelina Nino lost control while speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign.
The vehicle veered off the road, resulting in the death of Nino. Her 14-year-old sister, Rayla Piedra, was critically injured and rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. A 27-year-old man who was also in the car sustained injuries and remains hospitalized.
The family is reeling from this dual loss. Lorraine Quinonez, the sisters’ aunt, expressed the family’s devastation, stating, “The weight of it all, it’s heavy, because it’s not just one, it’s both of them, both of our baby girls and we all helped raise them.” Quinonez is striving to remain strong for her sister during this incredibly difficult time.
Rayla was eagerly anticipating her 15th birthday on November 8, adding to the tragedy as the family reflects on what should have been a joyful occasion.
To support the family in laying the girls to rest, a GoFundMe page has been established, and community members are encouraged to contribute during this heartbreaking time.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and the family urges drivers to remain vigilant on the roads to prevent further tragedies.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the community comes together to honor the lives of Angelina and Rayla.
