The Rotary Club of Woodland is inviting local residents to propose ideas for a Centennial Legacy Project, celebrating its upcoming centenary in 2026. This initiative, in collaboration with the Woodland Sunrise Rotary Club and the Luna Vista Rotary Club, aims to create a lasting community improvement that will benefit the residents of Woodland for generations.
According to a recent press release, the Rotary clubs are focused on identifying a project that addresses an unmet need within the community. Aniek Pflager, the president for the term 2025-26, emphasized the importance of this milestone, stating, “We want this milestone to mean more than a party. We’re looking for a project that fills an unmet need—something that may not be already planned or fully funded that our community will be proud of in year 100 and year 150.”
Criteria for Project Proposals
The Rotary Clubs are seeking suggestions that meet specific criteria to ensure broad community impact and sustainability. Key elements include:
- Community impact: The proposed project should benefit a wide range of Woodland residents, with particular interest in ideas that serve youth and seniors.
- Enduring and visible: The initiative should involve a capital improvement, installation, or amenity that provides lasting value.
- Feasibility: The project should be achievable within the year 2026, with a clear pathway to securing necessary permits and partners, along with a maintenance plan.
- Collaborative approach: The Rotary Clubs encourage opportunities for partnerships, volunteer involvement, and co-funding to enhance the project’s scope and impact.
How to Submit Your Proposal
Community members interested in contributing ideas can do so through the Rotary Club’s website by using the Centennial Suggestion Form available at woodlandrotary.org. Alternatively, submissions can be emailed directly to [email protected]. Proposals should include a brief description of the idea, its proposed location, estimated impact, and any potential partners.
The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2023. The Rotary Clubs of Woodland are eager to engage with the community in this significant undertaking, aiming to leave a lasting legacy that reflects the spirit of collaboration and service that Rotary embodies.
