NDSU and Dickinson State Launch Urgent Pre-Pharmacy Program

BREAKING: North Dakota State University (NDSU) and Dickinson State College have just announced a groundbreaking partnership to launch a new pre-pharmacy program, providing crucial training access to Dickinson students. This program, unveiled on October 29, 2023, is set to address the urgent need for pharmacists in western North Dakota.

Starting in the spring of 2024, students at Dickinson State will be able to participate in a comprehensive three-year pre-pharmacy program. This initiative marks the first time students from Dickinson will have direct access to the pre-pharmacy training offered at NDSU, the only institution with a pharmacy program in the state.

According to Amy Werremeyer, chair of NDSU’s Department of Pharmacy Practice, this collaboration is a vital step in ensuring the health needs of North Dakotans are met. “We’re providing coverage and making connections with people all across the state. We know that the health of North Dakotans is paramount for what pharmacists need to be focused on, and we’re here to help students do that,” Werremeyer stated.

The program aims to not only prepare students academically but also to foster a sense of community by connecting future pharmacists with local health care needs. This initiative is a direct response to the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in the region, ensuring that students are equipped to fill these critical roles.

As more details emerge about the curriculum and enrollment process, interested students are encouraged to keep an eye on announcements from both institutions. This new pathway is a significant development for aspiring pharmacists, providing them with the tools and support necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new opportunity that promises to reshape the future of pharmacy education in North Dakota.
