UPDATE: The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has just announced an urgent public open house regarding the future construction of Highway 210, set to occur on October 29, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at Deerwood City Hall. This key event will allow residents to gain insights into the road improvements impacting the stretch from Crosby to Deerwood.
Residents are encouraged to attend this open house-style meeting where they can drop by at their convenience to view project layouts, ask questions, and engage directly with the MnDOT project team. Notably, there will be no formal presentation, making it easier for participants to interact and gather information on the upcoming changes.
The planned construction project is significant, with preliminary design work continuing through 2027. Final designs and traffic plans are expected to be completed in 2028, with actual construction slated for 2029. This will necessitate a detour, so community members should stay informed to avoid disruptions.
Key improvements outlined for Highway 210 include resurfacing from east of Third Avenue East in Crosby to East Broadway in Deerwood, and from Ruggles Avenue to east of Highway 6 in Deerwood. The project also aims to repair or replace drainage pipes and ditches, install new pavement markings, and update guardrails.
In Deerwood, additional enhancements will reconstruct the road surface and adjacent entrances from East Broadway to Ruggles Avenue. Key intersections, particularly the junction of Highway 210 and Crow Wing County Road 12, will also undergo upgrades, including the replacement of underground stormwater structures and enhancements to pedestrian sidewalks and crossings.
To ensure accessibility, MnDOT invites and encourages participation from all community members. For those requiring accommodations, such as ASL interpreters or documents in alternative formats, requests can be sent to [email protected] or by calling 651-366-4720.
