The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has imposed a fine on **Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC)**, a subsidiary of **Super Group**, following significant breaches related to responsible gambling protocols. The penalty, announced earlier this month, stems from an investigation that identified shortcomings in the company’s player protection measures.
DGC failed to adhere to its commitments to responsible gaming between **March 2024** and **January 2025**. Notably, the company did not include a self-excluded player on the list of prohibited individuals, allowing them to place wagers across various gaming and sports betting products. In a separate incident, which occurred between **July 18, 2024**, and **August 7, 2024**, additional self-excluded patrons were permitted to open accounts and gamble, violating the established self-exclusion protocols.
Settlement Details and Financial Implications
In response to the findings, DGC has agreed to a settlement which includes a civil penalty of **$112,188.96**. Additionally, the company will reimburse affected players a total of **$5,278.73**, reflecting the amounts won from these individuals during the period of non-compliance.
The DGE confirmed that the matter has been resolved with DGC’s acknowledgment of fault and commitment to compensate players. While no further action is being pursued against the company at this time, the regulator issued a warning that any future violations could result in more severe penalties.
The relatively modest size of the settlement may be linked to the total losses incurred by self-excluded players, who were able to gamble unimpeded during the periods in question. The DGE’s findings highlight the importance of adhering to responsible gaming regulations, aimed at protecting vulnerable individuals from gambling-related harm.
The DGE’s actions illustrate its ongoing commitment to enforcing regulatory standards within the gaming industry in New Jersey. Companies like DGC are reminded that maintaining compliance with responsible gambling measures is crucial not only for regulatory adherence but also for the integrity of the gaming environment as a whole.
