Tennessee Seniors Urged to Apply for Promise Scholarship by Nov. 3

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) is reminding high school seniors to submit their applications for the Tennessee Promise scholarship before the deadline of November 3, 2023. This scholarship is designed to cover tuition and mandatory fees that are not fully funded by other financial aid, such as the Pell Grant, HOPE Scholarship, or Tennessee Student Assistance Award.

Dr. Steven Gentile, Executive Director of THEC, emphasized the significance of the scholarship, stating, “Tennessee Promise is more than a scholarship — it’s a pathway to opportunity.” He highlighted that the program offers two years of tuition-free education, enabling students to swiftly pursue their career aspirations and lay the groundwork for future success.

Eligible students can utilize the Tennessee Promise scholarship at any of Tennessee’s 13 community colleges and 23 colleges of applied technology, commonly referred to as TCATs. The scholarship is also applicable at participating four-year public and private colleges that offer associate degree programs.

To apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship, students must access the application through the TSAC Student Portal. Creating a Student Portal account requires specific information, including the student’s first and last name as it appears on their Social Security card, Social Security number, date of birth, and a personal email address (not a school email).
