UPDATE: The Utah Mammoth have extended their winning streak to seven games, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on November 5, 2023, in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Dylan Guenther netted the decisive goal with 5:36 left in the third period, sealing another impressive performance for the Mammoth.
This victory follows a resounding 6-2 win against the Minnesota Wild just the night before, propelling the Mammoth to an outstanding record of 8-2-0, marking them as the team to beat in the Western Conference.
“We’re playing a lot of games, too, so I think just continue to just keep it rolling and just enjoy this one,” Guenther expressed after the game. His remarkable performance includes 11 game-winning goals out of his last 17 goals dating back to last season.
Logan Cooley and JJ Peterka played crucial roles in setting up Guenther’s winning goal, with Peterka stealing the puck from defenseman Haydn Fleury to create the opportunity. The Mammoth’s scoring was bolstered by goals from Michael Carcone and Mikhail Sergachev, while goalie Vitek Vanecek made 28 saves to secure the win.
The Jets managed to tie the game at 2-2 during a power play in the second period when Mark Scheifele fired a shot past Vanecek, following a setup from Josh Morrissey while John Marino was in the penalty box for interference.
