UPDATE: The New York Road Runners just hosted an exhilarating youth event in Central Park, igniting excitement for the upcoming TCS New York City Marathon. Over 2,500 young runners, aged 2 to 18, participated in this free event, showcasing their talents and enthusiasm early this morning.
The event kicked off at West Drive, south of West 67th Street, and featured a variety of races, dashes, and family-friendly activities. This marks the official start of marathon race week in New York City, culminating in the highly anticipated marathon on November 2, 2025.
The New York Road Runners confirmed that many participants are involved in the Rising New York Road Runners program, which supports 200,000 students nationwide, including 100,000 in New York City. The organization hosts more than 20 free youth events annually, promoting fitness and community engagement among young athletes.
As excitement builds, more than 50,000 runners from around the globe will hit the streets next Sunday, representing a diverse range of experience levels, ages, and backgrounds.
