The situation unfolded on Thursday, when federal agents arrested Rozier in Orlando, Florida, alleging that he conspired with associates to manipulate bets based on his performance during a game in March 2023 while he was with the Charlotte Hornets.
During a morning shootaround on Friday, the absence of Rozier was felt deeply by his teammates. Heat captain Bam Adebayo emphasized the bond they share, stating, “That’s our brother at the end of the day. It felt kind of weird without him being here, actually, because he’s the first person I get to talk to in the morning.” Adebayo reiterated the team’s commitment to support Rozier throughout this challenging time, affirming, “We stand behind him. Full support.”
Rozier’s arrest is part of a larger investigation involving multiple high-profile individuals, including Chauncey Billups, head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, who was also arrested for his alleged involvement in a gambling scheme. The investigations are linked to illegal sports betting and rigged poker games reportedly tied to organized crime.
