Downingtown Welcomes The Borough: A Dining Revolution Begins!

UPDATE: The grand opening of The Borough in Downingtown last week marks a vibrant new chapter in the local dining scene, attracting throngs of excited diners. This innovative two-level restaurant and entertainment venue, located at 149 E Lancaster Avenue, is poised to become a community favorite, blending the energetic vibes of Miami and Nashville.

The Borough features a unique dual-concept: a lively sports bar on the first floor and an upscale dining experience above. Co-owners Keith Critchley and JT O’Brien aim to create a dynamic atmosphere where guests can enjoy elevated pub fare and a diverse cocktail menu, all while soaking in live entertainment.

Downstairs, the modern sports bar offers over 20 craft beer taps and a menu designed for casual get-togethers, making it the perfect spot for game nights or dinner with friends. Meanwhile, the second floor transforms into an airy dining space adorned with lush indoor trees and water features, inviting patrons to enjoy signature sushi and curated drinks in a vibrant setting.

“We set out to create a concept that Downingtown has never seen — something dynamic, unexpected, and built entirely around the guest experience,” said Critchley. The venue also boasts a 30–40-seat outdoor patio that connects seamlessly with the interior, enhancing the laid-back, beach-inspired ambiance.

As Downingtown currently has limited outdoor dining options, The Borough fills a crucial gap, allowing guests to relish food, drinks, and live music in an inviting indoor-outdoor atmosphere. The venue will regularly host an array of entertainment, including live music acts, athlete meet-and-greets, and family-friendly events, creating a multifaceted destination for all.

The Borough is not just about dining; it’s about building a community hub. The restaurant has already hired over 150 employees, significantly supporting the local economy and sourcing ingredients from nearby farms and suppliers.

Operating hours are as follows: Sunday to Thursday from 11 am to 11 pm, and the bar remains open until 12 am. On Fridays and Saturdays, dining extends to 12 am with bar hours until 1 am. In just a few weeks, the venue will also introduce a popular brunch service starting at 10 am on weekends.

The Borough’s commitment to community is reflected in its name, representing not just Downingtown locals but also surrounding neighborhoods. “Every detail and every experience is designed to make guests feel welcome and excited to return,” O’Brien stated.
