Gunner Stockton Shines with Multiple Awards After Georgia’s Victory

Additionally, he was honored as the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

This achievement marks Stockton as the first player this season to receive the Davey O’Brien Award’s National QB of the Week honor twice. It also represents the twelfth time that a Georgia player has earned the Walter Camp recognition, the first since Stetson Bennett in 2022.

He also contributed significantly with ten carries for 59 yards and an additional touchdown. Historic Performance Against Top Opposition

Stockton’s performance set multiple milestones, as he led Georgia to score on its first eight drives, becoming the first team to achieve this against an Associated Press (AP) top 10 opponent since 2016. Notably, he is the first quarterback to complete 12 consecutive passes—achieving a perfect completion rate—in a half against an AP top five opponent since Aaron Rodgers did so against then No. 1 USC in 2004.

With the Bulldogs currently positioned at No. 5 in the rankings and sporting a record of 6-1 overall and 3-1 in SEC play, they are set to face the Florida Gators (3-4, 2-2 SEC) on November 1, 2023. The matchup will take place in Jacksonville, Florida, and will be broadcast live on ABC starting at 15:30 (3:30 p.m.) local time.

As the season progresses, Stockton’s performances will be pivotal for Georgia’s aspirations in the SEC and beyond.
