URGENT UPDATE: Ronald L. Gilbert, a beloved resident of Perry Township, has passed away at the age of 70. He died on October 14, 2025, at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, leaving a legacy of family and community.
His passing comes just 15 years after the death of his wife, Cheryl L. Gilbert, on October 18, 2010. Ronald was well-known for his dedication to work and family, having served as a steel worker for DANA Corporation until his retirement.
Born in Pottsville, he was the son of Minerva (Yoder) Gilbert and the late Carlson “Mike” Gilbert. Ronald graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 1973 and briefly attended Lincoln Tech. His career included positions at Sheetz, Mack Truck, and most recently, as a greeter at Cabela’s.
Ronald was passionate about the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hunting and hiking, and was a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports, particularly the Phillies and the Miami Dolphins. He cherished spending time with family, including his son, Todd D. Gilbert, and daughter, Jani L. (Gilbert) Milan, both of whom survive him, along with three grandchildren: Connor DuCoin, Chayson Gilbert, and McKinley Gilbert.
Ronald is also survived by two brothers, Carlson G. “Butch” Gilbert, Jr. and Richard C. Gilbert, and three sisters: Carol (Gilbert) Merbah, Sandra (Gilbert) LaScala, and Donna (Gilbert) Dabashinski.
