Stacey Hatfield, a Melbourne-based nutritionist and social media influencer, tragically died on September 29, 2025, following an “extremely rare complication” during a home birth. Hatfield, known for her healthy food recipes and personal health journey shared on her platform, Natural Spoonfuls, was delivering her first child, Axel, when the incident occurred. While Axel was successfully born, Stacey faced unforeseen challenges shortly thereafter.
In a heartfelt statement, her husband, Nathan Hatfield, expressed profound grief, describing Stacey as his “soul mate” and “the light of my life.” He detailed how, despite the efforts of hospital staff, Stacey could not be saved after being rushed to the facility. “Stace passed on the 29th September 2025 after successfully giving birth to our firstborn son, Axel, at home,” Nathan noted.
Nathan reflected on their nine years together, recalling their wedding day in the Maldives as the happiest moment of his life. “Words can’t do justice to how devastating this is for myself and everyone that knew and loved her,” he wrote. He emphasized Stacey’s unique qualities, describing her as “the most beautiful, loving, caring, hardworking, disciplined, intelligent, and trustworthy human being.”
Stacey’s Life and Work
Stacey’s journey began with her struggle against various health issues, including digestive problems and low energy. On her website, she shared her experiences, which inspired her to promote a natural, additive-free lifestyle. In 2019, she founded Natural Spoonfuls, collaborating with brands to advocate for healthier eating.
In 2023, she expanded her entrepreneurial efforts by launching a social media content creation company named Waffl, aimed at helping food brands enhance their online presence. Nathan expressed immense pride in her professional achievements, stating, “I’m so proud of her for everything she achieved in her professional life.”
Stacey’s passion for life extended beyond her career. Nathan described her as a “child of the universe,” who cherished a simple, stress-free existence. She found joy in nature, often reading books with a warm mug of green tea beside their French Bulldog, Winter. Nathan shared that she had eagerly anticipated motherhood, expressing love for their son Axel throughout her pregnancy.
A Legacy of Love
The couple shared numerous adventures, traveling to various countries, including climbing mountains in Norway and swimming in lakes in Switzerland. Nathan highlighted the memories they created together, stating, “I’m so happy that we got to share these memories together; they’re ones I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
In his tribute, Nathan thanked the community for their support during this heartbreaking time. He emphasized the joy of Stacey’s last moments, noting, “If there’s one thing that I can try and reconcile in this horrible time is that her last moments on earth were the happiest I’ve ever seen her.”
Stacey’s legacy lives on through her family, friends, and the countless individuals who were touched by her light. As Nathan concluded, “Her memory will remain with those of us that knew her as the ditzy, green-eyed, blond-haired girl whose smile could fill a room. Thank you for a wonderful life together, my love.”
