$100K Reward Offered for Missing Arlington Man on Autism Spectrum
The search for Jonathan Hoang, a 22-year-old Arlington man on the Autism spectrum, intensifies as authorities and family announce a $100,000 reward for information on his disappearance. Jonathan vanished from his home on March 30, leaving behind his shoes, phone, coat, and wallet, but taking only his iPad—a puzzling detail that raises urgent questions about his sudden disappearance.
Crimestoppers of Puget Sound Executive Director Jim Fuda revealed that the $1,000 initial reward quickly ballooned after an anonymous Florida car dealership owner contributed an additional $90,000. “Someone out of Florida added another 90 to that. So there is a $100,000 reward for the safe return of Jonathan Hoang or his whereabouts,” Fuda said, appealing for immediate help from the public.
Disappearance Details Raise Red Flags
Jonathan, described by his sister Irene Pfister as “incapable of lying” and “sweet,” was last seen saying goodnight at 7:30 p.m. before he went missing. Family members emphasize that Jonathan is a routine-driven individual who never leaves the house without a hooded jacket, even on hot days. Yet all his jackets and shoes were found inside the home, making his exit from the unlocked deck door on Northwest 14th Drive especially baffling.
“His shoes, his phone, his coat were still in the house, but his iPad was missing,” Fuda said. “He didn’t take his iPad out of the house unless he thought he was going on a long trip somewhere.” The fact that the iPad is gone has become a critical lead for law enforcement and family alike.
Ongoing Search and Public Appeal
Despite a year of searching and numerous leads—including tips about sightings as far away as Kirkland—no concrete evidence has surfaced. Many tips are outdated, and authorities urge anyone who thinks they’ve seen Jonathan to immediately contact police and obtain photographic proof.
“Please call the police immediately. Try to keep eyeball contact on him, and definitely get a picture,” said Fuda.
Jonathan’s trusting nature raises concern that he could have complied with instructions from a stranger without resistance. “He’s just so gentle and so innocent,” said Pfister.
Community and Family Plea
The family and community are desperate for closure. “Somebody knows who has Jonathan, or knows of his whereabouts, dead or alive. And if you wish to remain anonymous, there is a $100,000 reward. So please come forward,” Fuda said emphatically.
Anyone with information on Jonathan Hoang’s disappearance is urged to contact Crimestoppers of Puget Sound at 800-222-TIPS or submit tips by mobile phone.
Why This Matters
Jonathan’s case highlights the vulnerabilities of individuals on the Autism spectrum who depend on routines and support. His disappearance remains an urgent public safety priority, not only for the Pacific Northwest but also as a reminder nationwide of the need to protect and locate missing vulnerable adults.
Authorities and family are now counting on community assistance more than ever to bring Jonathan home safely or bring answers to a painful cold case.
