The Scotia Band is calling on current and former graduates of Humboldt County high schools to apply for the Sewell Lufkin Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship, valued at $1,000, aims to support students pursuing college-level music majors or minors, assisting them with their educational expenses.
Applications are available online at www.scotiaband.org or through local music teachers. To complete the application process, candidates must submit a brief application form along with a personal letter to the Scotia Band. This letter should introduce the applicant, outline their musical background, and describe their future aspirations in music.
In addition to the application and personal letter, applicants are required to include one letter of recommendation. This letter can be provided by a high school music teacher or another individual familiar with the applicant’s musical journey. All application materials should be sent to the Scotia Band at P.O. Box 3, Scotia, CA 95565 by the deadline of April 17, 2024.
