Wynn Resorts has established the Craig S. Billings Endowed Scholarship, a $2 million initiative aimed at supporting the children of its North American employees. The announcement was made by Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, who expressed his enthusiasm for this significant investment in education.
The scholarship program is designed for qualifying employees and their children who are pursuing undergraduate degrees at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Specifically, the scholarships will be available for students enrolled in the Lee Business School, Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering, and William F. Harrah College of Hospitality. Billings emphasized the company’s commitment to its employees, stating, “It is such a privilege to be a colleague of the dedicated employees at the Wynn Resorts entities in North America.”
Enhancing Educational Opportunities
The scholarship initiative seeks to alleviate financial barriers for the children of employees working at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Boston Harbor. Billings highlighted that many parents strive to provide better opportunities for their children, and this scholarship aims to make a meaningful impact.
UNLV President Chris Heavey welcomed the partnership, noting that it is a step towards making education more accessible. “This scholarship helps remove that barrier for the children of employees at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Boston Harbor,” Heavey stated. He added that it enables students to fully engage in their education and complete a UNLV degree, which can significantly influence their future.
While approximately 90% of UNLV undergraduates receive some form of financial aid, many potential students still face financial challenges. The scholarship fund directly addresses these issues, allowing deserving young individuals to develop the skills necessary for successful careers.
Longstanding Support for Education
Recipients of the scholarship will receive financial assistance through graduation, covering up to 140 undergraduate credit hours. This support underscores Wynn Resorts’ ongoing commitment to education and its employees.
Tiffany Vickers, interim executive vice president of the UNLV Foundation, praised the initiative and highlighted Wynn Resorts’ long-term support for the university. “Craig Billings and the Wynn Resorts team have been long-standing supporters of educational efforts,” she remarked.
Through this scholarship program, Wynn Resorts not only invests in its employees’ families but also reinforces its dedication to fostering talent and creating opportunities for future generations.
