CBS Saturday Morning Hosts Honored After Departure Amid Network Changes

Michelle Miller, Dana Jacobson, and Brian Applegate, former hosts of “CBS Saturday Morning,” received accolades for their contributions to journalism at a recent event hosted by the National Urban League. The celebration took place in Harlem and was led by League CEO Marc H. Morial, who is also Miller’s husband.

Their recognition comes shortly after the trio departed from CBS in November 2023, following the network’s leadership changes under new executive Bari Weiss. The transition led to the appointment of Adriana Diaz and Kelly O’Grady as the new hosts in January 2024.

The reception, attended by colleagues from CBS and other media figures, highlighted the legacy of the departing hosts. A source present at the event noted that while the new leadership was not a topic of discussion, the departures raised concerns within media circles about the future direction of CBS.

Colleagues Celebrate Their Legacy

Former colleagues, including current “CBS Weekend News” anchor Jericka Duncan and “CBS Mornings” host Vlad Duthiers, were in attendance to honor Miller and Jacobson. The gathering also featured prominent figures such as former MSNBC News president Rashida Jones and television veterans Candi Carter from “The View” and “Oprah.”

During the event, Miller expressed gratitude towards her colleagues, stating, “My imperfect self belonged on that set, so I just want to thank each and every one of you because Dana always had my back.”

As the evening concluded, Miller and Jacobson were presented with bouquets of yellow flowers, while Applegate received a bottle of bourbon, marking a bittersweet farewell to their time at CBS.

The celebration served not only as a farewell but also as a testament to the impact that Miller, Jacobson, and Applegate had on the network and their audience. Their commitment to journalism continues to resonate with their peers, even as they embark on new chapters in their careers.
