Linda D. Vasquez, Beloved Educator and Community Leader, Passes Away

BREAKING: Linda D. Vasquez, a cherished educator and community leader, has passed away at the age of 78. She died peacefully on January 1, 2026, in the Hospital of Central Connecticut, located in New Britain, CT.

Linda’s passing marks a profound loss for her family and friends, as she was greeted in Heaven by her late husband, Leonard Vasquez. Born on July 3, 1947, in Waterbury, CT, Linda was known for her unwavering dedication to education and her love for the community.

A proud graduate of the University of New Haven with a B.A. in English, Linda made a significant impact as a teacher at both St. Anne’s School in Waterbury and St. Francis Middle School in New Britain. Her passion for teaching inspired countless students over the years. After her teaching career, she transitioned to work as an Operations Analyst at Traveler’s Insurance, where she remained a valued employee until her retirement. During her time at Traveler’s, she actively contributed to the workplace community, notably serving as the President of Traveler’s Women’s Club in 1993.

Linda was also a devoted collector of stories and antiques, often spending weekends treasure hunting at local flea markets or managing her own antique shop. She shared a deep bond with Leonard, and their mutual love for the ocean led them to create lasting memories at the Jersey Shore and Cape Cod. They ultimately built their dream home in Wellfleet, where Linda thrived as a gracious host, creating treasured moments with friends she regarded as family.

Linda leaves behind numerous friends, including Timothy Fritz, Alysa Krajcik, Jessica Spence, and Jennifer Hernandez, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, located at 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin, CT. Family and friends are invited to extend their condolences and honor Linda’s legacy.
