Zayn Malik recently poked fun at ticket prices for Harry Styles’ upcoming world tour during a performance in Las Vegas. In a video shared widely on social media, Malik expressed gratitude to his fans for attending his show at Dolby Live at Park MGM. He light-heartedly commented on the cost of Styles’ tickets, which have drawn criticism for being excessively high.
“I just want to say a big, big thank you to each and every single one of you for being here with me tonight,” Malik stated. He then added, “Hopefully, the ticket prices weren’t too high,” prompting cheers from the audience.
Styles faced significant backlash after presale tickets for his “Together, Together” tour went on sale. Prices for standard seated tickets at Wembley Stadium in London range from £44.10 (approximately $60) to £466.25 ($643), as reported by the BBC. Fans took to social media to express their frustrations. One user on X remarked, “I love Harry, but I fear he needs a reality check. There’s no way his main fan demographics can afford such expensive tickets.”
Liam Gallagher, the Oasis frontman, voiced his disbelief in a social media post, simply stating, “HOW MUCH,” which further fueled the online discourse surrounding the ticket prices. Fans on Reddit echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the financial strain of attending the concert. One user noted, “I saw $353.40 and thought that was for both, but it was per ticket for the upper bowl. I cannot pay that kind of money.”
In a major announcement on January 22, Styles revealed his world tour, which coincides with the release of his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. The album is set for release on March 6, 2024. Styles will embark on a 66-show tour across seven cities, including a notable 30-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The tour is scheduled to kick off on May 16 at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam and will conclude on December 13 at Accor Stadium in Sydney, with additional stops in cities such as São Paulo, Mexico City, and Melbourne.
Malik and Styles share a long history dating back to their time on the U.K. reality show The X Factor in 2010. They, along with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne, formed the internationally successful boy band One Direction. Malik left the group in March 2015, and the remaining members announced an indefinite hiatus in 2016. Following Payne’s tragic death at the age of 31 in October 2024, the surviving members of One Direction reunited for his funeral the following month. Malik expressed his grief, stating, “I lost a brother when you left us and can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time.”
The ongoing discussions about Styles’ ticket prices highlight the growing tensions between rising concert costs and fans’ financial realities. As artists embark on extensive tours, the balance between profitability and accessibility continues to be a pressing concern for both performers and their audiences.
