URGENT: SilverSummit Healthplan Announces Major Investment in Rural Healthcare
UPDATE: SilverSummit Healthplan has just announced a groundbreaking investment of $650,000 to enhance healthcare services in rural Nevada, reaching hospitals and clinics that were previously underserved. This initiative comes as part of the expansion of the Medicaid Managed Care program, now effective statewide as of January 1, 2023.
The funding will directly benefit 13 critical access hospitals and rural health clinics, including Desert View Hospital in Pahrump, with each facility receiving $25,000 in both 2025 and 2026. This investment aims to bolster infrastructure and workforce capabilities, ensuring these facilities can effectively participate in the newly expanded Medicaid system.
Sarah Fox, Chief Operating Officer of SilverSummit, stated, “By investing in provider infrastructure and expanding capacity, we are not only strengthening support for healthcare professionals but also ensuring that patients across our communities continue to have access to the care they need.”
This timely funding is crucial as it addresses the pressing healthcare needs in rural areas that have historically lacked adequate resources. Alongside Desert View Hospital, other facilities set to benefit include Banner Churchill Community Hospital, Battle Mountain General Hospital, and Humboldt General Hospital, among others. The thirteenth facility will be determined shortly.

Ryan Muccio, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator, emphasized the importance of a skilled workforce, stating, “This funding from SilverSummit Healthplan will allow us to upgrade our education and training programs, an area our staff has identified as a key motivator for recruitment and retention.”
The $650,000 investment is part of SilverSummit’s broader commitment to community support, amounting to over $23 million since 2022. This substantial financial backing is intended to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the state and ensure that essential services are accessible to all residents.
