The Sav-A-Life organization is hosting a candle-lighting and prayer vigil on January 25, 2024, in Andalusia, Alabama, to honor the sanctity of human life. This event will take place at the Covington County Courthouse from 14:00 to 15:30. Participants are encouraged to stop by en route to or from church to reflect on the value of every life, both born and unborn.
The vigil aims to raise awareness about the loss of over 65 million unborn babies since the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade on January 22, 1973. Although this ruling was overturned in 2020, many states have enacted laws that permit abortions, including some that allow the procedure until birth. Each day, approximately 3,000 unborn lives are lost in America, highlighting the ongoing debate surrounding abortion rights.
Sav-A-Life of Covington County is spearheading the event, emphasizing the importance of personal prayer for those affected by abortion, including individuals who have experienced its pain, as well as a broader hope for the nation to once again value every human life. The organization offers speakers for discussions about the sanctity of life, making them available for Sunday School classes, church services, or civic gatherings.
The Family Hope Center, operated by Sav-A-Life, is situated at 116 Crescent Street, conveniently located near the courthouse. For those seeking additional information about the vigil or related services, Sav-A-Life can be reached at 334-222-0644.
This event serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing conversation regarding the sanctity of human life and the societal values that surround it. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful reflection and prayer during this significant gathering.
