Macomb County Resident Hits $1 Million Jackpot with Lottery Ticket

A man from Macomb County recently experienced a life-changing moment when he won $1 million on a Michigan Lottery instant ticket. Initially believing he had won $5,000, the 60-year-old, who has chosen to remain anonymous, discovered that his prize was significantly larger after scratching off a King Cashword ticket.

The winning ticket was purchased from a self-serve machine at the Kroger store located at 16450 25 Mile Road in Macomb. “I bought my ticket out of a self-serve machine and scratched it off,” he explained to the Michigan Lottery. “At first, I thought I won $5,000, and then I found another word to make ten for a $1 million prize. It was awesome! Winning feels like a huge blessing and means I can retire earlier than I planned.”

After claiming his prize, he opted for a lump sum payment, receiving approximately $693,000 instead of choosing annuity payments over time. The man expressed his plans to save the money for retirement, marking a significant milestone in his financial journey.

Launched in June 2025, the King Cashword game initially featured three top prizes of $1 million. Following this latest win, two of those prizes remain unclaimed, leaving opportunities for other players in the future.

The Michigan Lottery continues to provide exciting opportunities for players, with instant tickets like King Cashword proving to be popular and rewarding. For this fortunate Macomb County resident, a simple ticket has opened the door to a new chapter in life, highlighting the potential for unexpected fortune in the lottery realm.
