San Marin High School’s quarterback, Daniel Rolovich, has earned the prestigious title of Adobe Player of the Year, marking a significant milestone in the Redwood Empire Conference. His exceptional performance throughout the 2025 season led to this recognition, making him the first player from Marin to receive this honor since the league’s inception.
Rolovich’s season was nothing short of impressive. As a dual-threat quarterback, he guided the Mustangs to an 8-3 record and a return to the North Coast Section Open/Division I playoffs for the second consecutive year. He demonstrated his versatility by completing 65% of his passes for 1,930 yards and throwing 18 touchdowns. Additionally, he showcased his running ability, amassing 731 yards and scoring another 10 touchdowns on the ground.
One of the highlights of Rolovich’s season came during back-to-back games where he totaled 10 touchdowns, including a resounding 45-3 victory against Casa Grande and a 42-14 win over Ukiah. His efforts helped San Marin secure a sixth-place ranking in the NCS. In a thrilling playoff match, the Mustangs faced Cardinal Newman and pushed the game into double overtime, ultimately losing 21-14.
League Standouts and Honors
Rolovich’s achievement was part of a broader recognition of talent within the Redwood Empire Conference. Other players from San Marin also garnered accolades, with linebacker Daniel Gilmore being named Co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside Kordell Strane from Cardinal Newman. The Mustangs had additional representation on the all-league teams, including first-team selections for cornerback Ryan Houlahan and linebacker Luke Saysette. Offensive lineman Jackson Young was recognized for his strong performance on both sides of the ball.
Marin Catholic also made its mark in the league, finishing second in the Adobe league and securing the No. 5 seed in the Open/D-I playoffs. Co-captains Jarred Geissberger and Vince Tarantino played crucial roles, with Geissberger earning first-team honors as a running back and Tarantino being named Lineman of the Year. Geissberger had standout moments, including a pivotal kickoff return during a historic night game against San Marin.
Notable Performances Across the League
In the Valley division, Redwood High’s Dylan McGrath emerged as one of the league’s top two-way players, securing first-team honors on both offense and defense. The Redwood defense, particularly strong early in the season, was highlighted by first-team selections for linebacker Ben Vaughn and lineman Wes Fitzpatrick.
Tam High’s offense was led by first-team pass catchers Timo Ural and Cole Kramlich, with Kramlich leading the team in receiving yards. Tam’s kicker and punter David Keane was also recognized as the league’s Specialist of the Year.
San Rafael’s high-powered offense finished the season in second place, with quarterback Lachlan Royston throwing for 2,802 yards and 36 touchdowns. Royston was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year, supported by standout performances from his receivers, including Will Healy, who led the team in catches and touchdowns.
Other teams also shined, including Tomales and Branson, both of which had players recognized as Offensive Co-MVPs in their respective leagues. Notably, Branson quarterback Colby Buxton threw for 1,620 yards and scored 31 touchdowns, cementing his status as a key player in the North Central League.
The 2025 season showcased remarkable talent across the Redwood Empire Conference, with players like Rolovich leading the charge and setting the stage for future seasons. The recognition of these athletes not only highlights their individual achievements but also underscores the growing competitive spirit within the league.
