The new all-electric Mercedes CLA has officially entered the market, positioning itself as a serious contender against Tesla’s popular Model 3. While initial impressions were mixed, a recent test drive in San Francisco revealed that the CLA may indeed challenge Tesla’s dominance in the EV space.
When Mercedes debuted the Concept CLA Class, many enthusiasts were captivated by its sleek design and innovative features. However, following a visit to Germany in February 2024 to see the production model, some concerns arose regarding its styling. Critics noted that the production version appears less striking than the concept. Additionally, the all-electric model shares a platform with a hybrid variant, raising questions about potential compromises in performance and design.
Despite these initial reservations, a more recent experience driving the CLA in December 2024 showcased its capabilities. The vehicle was equipped with the AMG Line and Pinnacle Line packages, including advanced safety features and an impressive audio system.
