The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed significant military statistics for 2025, reporting a total of 20,900 attacks on various targets. Among these operations, the IDF killed approximately 2,100 Hamas terrorists throughout the year. This information was made public by the IDF on Wednesday, highlighting the military’s extensive engagement across multiple fronts.
One noteworthy aspect of the IDF’s operations involved its intelligence Unit 504, often referred to as “the IDF’s Mossad.” This unit conducted interrogations of 3,100 terrorists during 2025. Of these, 1,600 were interrogated in Israeli detention centers, while 1,500 were interrogated in the field shortly after capture. The challenges of field interrogations are considerable, as interrogators operate in high-stress environments, often facing physically or emotionally destabilized detainees. Nonetheless, these interrogations can yield critical intelligence that aids in preventing further attacks and capturing key terrorist figures.
Broader Military Engagements and Target Statistics
In the broader context of its military operations, the IDF reported that 19,530 of the total attacks occurred in Gaza, with the remainder distributed across Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, and the West Bank. Within Gaza, the IDF successfully eliminated four brigade-level commanders, along with 14 battalion-level commanders and 53 company-level commanders. Currently, the only surviving brigade commander from the pre-Israel-Hamas War era is Az al-din al-Hadad, who previously served as the Gaza City brigade commander.
While the IDF did not provide an updated total of Hamas members killed in 2025, an earlier report in August indicated that the number was around 2,100. Considering the limited conflict in the months following this report, it is likely that this figure has increased modestly since then.
In Lebanon, the IDF reported the death of approximately 380 Hezbollah terrorists during around 950 targeted operations. Additionally, the IDF indicated that Hezbollah violated the 2024 ceasefire agreement 1,920 times. The specifics of these violations, whether blatant incursions in southern Lebanon or more discreet actions north of the Litani River, remain unspecified.
Further operations in the West Bank resulted in the deaths of 230 terrorists and the arrest of 7,400 Palestinians. Notably, only 1,190 detainees were said to have ties to Hamas, raising questions about the perceived threat level of other detainees. The IDF did not clarify how many of these individuals were subsequently returned to Hamas during recent hostage exchanges, nor did it disclose how many would face lengthy detentions.
Financial and Operational Highlights
Significantly, the IDF reported confiscating NIS 16,480,000 from Palestinian terrorists in the West Bank. The IDF also engaged in operations against the Houthi forces in Yemen, conducting 20 aerial operations and striking 230 targets. Many of these strikes were repeat actions aimed at locations previously targeted, complicating Houthi efforts to recover.
Throughout the year, the IDF faced casualties of 91 soldiers killed and 821 seriously wounded, a decrease compared to the previous two years but still notable. Additionally, 3,050 moderately wounded soldiers were evacuated via land transport, with another 300 evacuated by helicopter. The IDF Home Front Command contributed by introducing 1,500 new mini-safe-houses and renovating around 200 larger bomb shelters for civilian protection.
In a demonstration of military readiness, 306,830 reservists served in the IDF during 2025, underscoring the ongoing commitment to national security amid persistent regional tensions.
