Santa Clara Sheriff, Fire Departments Deliver Hundreds of Toys

UPDATE: Members of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Clara County Fire Department delivered hundreds of toys to young patients at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center today, December 17, 2025. This heartwarming initiative aims to bring joy to children facing health challenges during the holiday season.

The toy distribution took place in the children’s wing of the hospital in San Jose, California, where community contributions fueled the efforts of local first responders. Both departments collected an impressive number of toys, showcasing the strong support from the local community.

“It’s all about bringing smiles to these children,” said Art Tomasetti from the Fire Department as he handed toys to young patients, including Kevin Fernandez. The joyous atmosphere was palpable as children interacted with toys and enjoyed visits from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit.

The event not only focused on toy deliveries but also allowed patients like Draven Jenkins to experience the comfort of therapy dogs. The K-9 visits provided emotional support, making a significant impact on the children’s spirits amid their struggles.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Santa Clara County Sheriff and Fire Departments to engage with the community and support those in need. The collected toys will also be distributed to various sites throughout the county, reaching even more children.

As the holiday season progresses, community members are encouraged to continue supporting similar initiatives. The positive impact of these acts of kindness is immeasurable, offering hope and joy during challenging times.
