Variety Show “Amazing Saturday” Loses Another Star Amid Medical Controversy

The variety show Amazing Saturday faces further turbulence as another cast member departs due to the ongoing “injection auntie” controversy. Following the exits of comedian Park Na Rae and SHINee member Key, YouTuber Short Mouth Sun announced her withdrawal from all programs, including the popular show.

In a video released on her official YouTube channel on October 19, Short Mouth Sun addressed the allegations surrounding her association with an unlicensed medical practitioner, known only as Lee. She expressed her regret over the situation, stating, “I am reflecting on and sorting through the controversies and suspicions raised. If there are mistakes on my part, I will admit them without making excuses or avoiding responsibility.”

Short Mouth Sun detailed her initial encounter with Lee at a hospital in Gangnam-gu, where she believed him to be a qualified doctor. She acknowledged that he provided treatments at her home during busy days, although she clarified that she had never visited his residence. “It was a serious oversight on my part not to be more careful and act more prudently regarding various circumstances,” she admitted.

As part of her response, Short Mouth Sun announced her decision to cease all scheduled activities, expressing her heartfelt apologies to fans and supporters. “I sincerely apologize to everyone who has loved and supported me despite my shortcomings,” she stated.

The controversy intensified as Dispatch, a prominent South Korean media outlet, reported suspicions that Short Mouth Sun received illicit medical treatments from Lee, referred to as the “injection auntie.” This individual was previously implicated in administering unlicensed medical services to both Park Na Rae and Key. Reports indicated that Short Mouth Sun may have received diet pills or intravenous fluids from Lee, raising concerns about the nature of the treatments she received.

Despite these allegations, Short Mouth Sun reportedly denied any wrongdoing when questioned by Dispatch. She clarified, “I did receive swelling medication from the hospital where A worked, but the diet pills and intravenous fluids are unrelated.” However, the speculation regarding her involvement in the distribution of psychotropic drugs to Park Na Rae’s manager continues to draw attention.

This controversy marks a significant chapter for Amazing Saturday, as the show grapples with the fallout from the actions of its cast members and their connections to unlicensed medical practices. The departure of Short Mouth Sun adds to a growing list of challenges for the program, raising questions about its future and the impact on its audience.

As the situation evolves, fans and industry observers alike are left to ponder the ramifications of the controversy and what it means for the broader entertainment landscape in South Korea.
